Physicians Laboratory provides a wide variety of Anatomic Pathology services for health providers.
Anatomic Pathology encompasses:
- Surgical Pathology - Surgical Pathologists examine organs and tissues for the purpose of making a diagnosis to assist the primary physician caring for the patient.
- Autopsy Pathology - Autopsy Pathologists perform autopsy examinations, usually in the hospital setting. The purpose is to determine the cause of death and to answer questions raised by the treating physicians and family members. A forensic pathologist is also often called to investigate the possibility of an "unnatural" death.
- Cytology - The cytologist examines individual cells and groups of cells under the microscope to diagnose various benign and malignant conditions.
